The ''City of Adelaide'' sailed from Port Adelaide early in September 1876, reaching Port Augusta via Point Lowly on 9th September.  She discharged some cargo at the moorings, then steadily loaded the bulk of her shipment.  She  sailed from Port Augusta on 31st October 1876 and arrived in London on 9th February 1877, a duration of 101 days.

This crew list is held by the Maritime History Archive, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. 
Frederick Higgs, one of the apprentices, deserted while the ship was in Port Adelaide.  He pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Police Court on 4th September, and was ordered to be sent to the vessel at Port Augusta.
