| Name |
Barber, Alexander |
- The passenger list for the 1865 voyage of the City of Adelaide lists Master A. Barber as part of this family. As we discovered in the English Census records, he was named Alexander. There are no marriage records in SA for an Alexander Barber, and there are no death records either. Bet there is one record that may fit the bill is that of an Abraham Barber of Nonning Station who died at Pt Augusta Hospital on 14 Dec 1910 at the age of 57 years. This individual was a single man and no relative's name is recorded. - SA Deaths 1842-1915 District: FRO Book: 353 Page: 364. Perhaps, as William & Julia's eldest son, he was named after his paternal grandfather, as their first daughter was named after her paternal grandmother, it seems reasonable to expect that they would do the same for the eldest son. Was his name really Abraham Alexander? [JKS / AM]
